CLIENT: Whaley Bridge Canal Group is a CIC, based in the historic Transhipment Warehouse in Whaley Bridge. The company is an hub for a variety of community-based enterprises and activities, including a bookshop, regular market, historical preservation society and much more.

BRIEF: The websites of three related organisations, the CIC itself, a crafts workshop provider (High Peak Heritage Crafts) and the Friends of Whaley Bridge Station were built on different website builder platforms and hosting costs for the 3 were extremely high.

Kernow Design proposed that the three sites be amalgamated into one site network, realised through the use of WordPress. All 3 sites were to be created as subdomains of the main company site, reflecting the structure of the organisation and, significantly, relying on only one, much cheaper, hosting account

EXECUTION: A modern, dynamic theme was used as the basis for the entire site network, with variations reflecting the individual sub-domains. Key art and branding was copied and, in some cases, tweaked to better fit this overall theme.

Site function such as donation buttons for the main company and online course bookings for the Heritage Crafts part of the site were easily achieved using some of the many useful plug-ins available for WordPress users. Basic tuition in content creation for new items to go on the site was also provided.
